How I got to know about Duolingo?

I got to know about this amazing language learning app from a friend of mine who used to learn German from Duolingo. I saw him learning German by doing some exercises in the app which made me feel intresting. He then suggested me to give it a try. Then I thought of learning a foregin language which is a great way to enculcate a good habit which also increases my career opportunities. I got the intrest of learning Spanish from watching one of the most popular webseries - La Casa De Papel (The House of Paper) which is populary known for its name "MONEY HEIST". I started my spanish learning journery in the month of February 2023.

I have been using this app for more than 18 months. Maintaing a streak of 550+ days at present.I feel that I have enough experience to share about my views on this Amazing Language teaching app.

Is Duolingo really worthy?

Yes. It is useful to learning new words and phrases in every day life in the language you are intersted in .But, You must be aware of the fact that a single app cann't help you learn the language completly. You must communicate with people in the language you like to learn. Interaction is key while learning a new language. Coming to the teaching approach of this application , it mainly focuses on four key aspects.

1.speaking

2.listening

3.writing

4.reading

One of the main advantage of this app is that it provides perfect gaming experience to learn a language with fun. The gaming experience gives more intrest for us in learning more.

STREAK:

You get a streak by doing a three minute lesson(approx) each day. I gives us rewards in the form of diamonds for reaching milestones. The app has a feature called streak freeze which freezes your streak for one or two days if you missout on taking lesson due to any reason. Users with a 365 day streak are called as the special learners of Duolingo. The users of the app can see other users stats like the languages they are learning, number of days of their streak and their achivements.

LEAGUES:

Leagues section of the app creates a competitive environment to the users to achieve their language learning goals much faster by creating intresting challanges. Here are the Leagues present in duolingo which is held ever week. You either get promoted to the respective higher league, keep your position is the same league or get demoted to lower league based on the position of the leaderboard which consists of 30 random members in a league.

Additional Rewards and Bonuses:

Your score is calculated in the form of XP. Each lesson you take gives some XP based on the difficult and the type of exercise you are doing. This XP is what motivates you give your best to learn

more to get more XP. This XP is also useful in moving forward in the leagues.

These can be claimed to double your XP for the next 15 minutes after claiming them. You can get them daily by doing a lesson in between 6 am to 12pm to get night bird chest and 6pm to 12pm to get early bird chest the next day.

Daily Quest, Friend Quest and Monthly badges are other ways of finding fun in the app which also motivates you to learn faster and easier.
